Lionhead Studio playing with Natal for the last few months and created to a Artificial Intelligence 3D model named Milo. Through Project Natal, Milo is able to observed the player(us) who is standing infront of him. Our facial expression, how we speaks and what we are feeling by observing our face through Natal. Milo acts just like a real-boy(serious, no joke), you can talk to him and he'll respond to you like a real human would. You even draw a picture and pass to him through Natal, at that moment, Natal will scan the image and Milo will pickup a in-game paper with the image scanned on it. Milo is able to see what you've drawn, the shape and colors and will respond to you with comments.
Project Natal will become the next generation gaming experience (from me, Naraxis, no joke). Your jaws will be dropped once you've watch the video when it's up.

Game for iPhone turns profitable for students

A GAME created by two final-year Game & Entertainment Technology students has made a tidy profit for the young developers.
Driven by their passion for game development, and a tinge of curiosity, Samuel Wong and Shawn Lee decided to test the marketability of a game they had created on their own time, called Caku. To date, it has received more than 2,000 paid downloads from iTunes AppStore. In fact, during the free-download period of the game, about 1,000 downloads were recorded daily for a week.
Said their lecturer Jonathan Chee: “Our students are also exposed to the business aspects of marketing their game, from doing market research and user analysis, to pitching their game ideas. I am glad that the students have taken the initiative to put what they have learned into action.”
Excited that their game is being played on the popular iPhone, Samuel and Shawn have since started working on new game ideas.

Final Fantasy 13 Battle System
For the benefit of those who don't understand Japanese, I shall roughly translate the battle system from the website. However, as my command of the language is only at elementary level, don't expect everything to be the correct information or every part to be translated =(.
1) Simple Encounter
In FF13, having contact with the enemies in the playing field results in a battle. This is known as "Simple Encounter" system.
The battle takes place in real time and as time passes, the time gauge will slowly leak away. As the time gauge is moving, you can stock commands. In order to stock each command, there will be a required cost. In the demo, the most you can stock is up to 3, and execute them in a chain to attack the enemy.
2) Chain & Break
When you chain attack the enemy, a meter will be shown on the top right corner of the screen, showing the number of chains and the bonus. Not very sure what the rest is talking about, generally something about the gauge for break and is affected by the number of chain.
3) Uchiage
When you break the enemy, the amount of damage you deal will increase, and you can send the enemy flying into the air and chase them with "Uchiage". From command, you can stock attack, magic, etc. with "Uchiage".
When you chase the enemy into the air, you deal more damage than in normal cases, which gives you an advantage in battle. However, "Uchiage" is only effective if the enemy is in the break status, therefore breaking the enemy is important.
4) Other elements
Spells or techniques which are very powerful such as firaga consumes much of the time gauge, but are extremely powerful.
In the demo, powerful spells such as firaga and blizzaga can be used.
When the battle ends, the results of the battle will be shown. The duration of the battle, maximum number of chain achieved in the battle, etc. will affect the rank accordingly. TP Bonus cannot be used for the demo version.

Funan Guitar Hero - Metallica Game Event
There are two more session for Guitar Hero Metallica Event, check the schedule below
It was just so coincidence that the event's amcee was someone familiar. He is none other than GCA Organiser Chris Soh of Singapore Gamers Association. Had a short chat with him about studies and the previous game reviews done by a group students from our diploma that was reviewed for NewEra, might have more game review request soon.
The Guitar Hero Metallica event today was organised by NewEra and Microsoft I suppose. The event invited a Guitar Hero Band to perform and live demonstrated the game to the member of public. Their scores went over a million points, you could imagine how well-versed they are in the game and their passion for rock musics.
And for today special only, the event promo on the game with the cost of $359 for GuitarHero World Tour package, GuitarHero Metallica and a free gift of either a noise reduction drumming sticks or 4 different funky design of guitar strap.
Here is 1 out of the 4 public try out session, of course Merdeka is one of the person who is going to rock it out along with some of the Xbox Live gamers.
Below is the video of one powerful gamer that rock out the stage.
Looks like the event had rock quite a handful of Guitar Hero fans. Although the event supposedly ended at 4.30pm, but it seems that it encore by the Guitar Hero Band. I left before it ended so this is what I've experience over the event. Let's wait for more great events like this by Microsoft and NewEra.

"It is said that millions of people cried after watching this picture.
"In America, Europe and even in India."
"It is said that the photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France.
"All copies of that newspaper were sold out on the day these pictures were published.
"This came to me in an email and I too, was so deeply moved and could see many parallels to our human life.
"Wouldn’t it be wonderful if those millions of people who cried after watching and reading this story realised how many people are dying and suffering at the unmercy of starvation, homelessness and wars alone?
"Let us take our tears for the swallows and unite them for PEACE and put an end to suffering and killing.
"All those who wear uniforms come home.
"There is no enemy unless your mind is willing."
His partner is injured and the condition is fatal. She was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road.
He brought her food and attended to her with love and compassion.
He brought her food again but was shocked to find her dead. He tried to move her….a rarely-seen effort for swallows!
Aware she is dead and will never come back to him again. He cries
And Cries …. (as do I(STOMPer Moh), Naraxis doesn't cry but was touched!)
